Lady Producer Gang

Type: Collective of independent creative producers
Dates: 2017 - 2018
Collaborators: Adelaide Rief and Vanessa Wright

Lady Producer Gang (LPG) was a collective of independent creative producers founded by Adelaide Rief, Vanessa Wright and myself. Together, we participated in the Next Wave Kickstart Helix professional development program in 2017-2018.

We established LPG as space to interrogate and explore new models for working in the arts. We were (are) particularly interested in:

  • participatory, playful and public art

  • alternative and non-organisational models for working collectively

  • DIY approaches to creative production

Through LPG, we ran the Producer Network - a series of semi-regular meet ups and events for independent producers working around Australia. These included events at Next Wave, Melbourne Fringe and Critical Animals at TINA.

Our participation in Next Wave Kickstart Helix was supported through artsACT Out of Rounds Funding and Australia Council Career Development Funding.
